Programme note

Večna pot is a work for twelve strings in a spatial arrangement. Two soloists — violin and cello — stand at the centre of the space, surrounded by the audience, while the remaining ten players are divided into two equal groups, one at each pole of the room.

Each of us is placed upon a path of life, into the unpredictable. We are given to a world of countless shades of feeling, of constant change and decision; and each choice shapes the next. The longing for boundless freedom meets the constant struggle with the time we have been allotted.

The deepest fear is to remain misunderstood, unfulfilled, alone — and so we sometimes forget that we are only human, that the mind itself does not always allow us to live. The greatest grace, perhaps, is the desire to share a single moment with another — and in that moment, to touch eternity.
